The Watch on Eternal Shores
The dress blues are folded, the brass polished bright,
A warrior rests from the heat of the fight.
No more the cadence, the pack, or the sand,
Just the quiet embrace of a grateful home land.
From the halls of the islands to the desert’s sharp glare,
The Eagle and Globe were the burden you’d bear.
You stood in the breach where the shadows grow deep,
A promise to brothers you swore you would keep.
"Semper Fidelis"—more than just words on a crest,
But the heartbeat that guided the soul in your chest.
Though the rifle is silent, the boots left behind,
Your courage is etched in the hearts of your kind.
The gates of the Kingdom are guarded today,
By a Marine who has finished and gone on their way.
The battle is over, the long watch is through,
Rest easy, Marine, we’ll take it from here for you.
